Historical thriller set in Venice, both during WW2 and in the late 1990’s
This page-turner allows you to learn a lot about Venice under German occupation during WW2 — and about the production of velvet, once one of the city’s proudest industries. Like Hewson’s The Medici Murders, the novel is beautifully researched and nuanced — but the author’s erudition never weighs down the narrative.
